Join National Single Payer Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 5 pm PT/8 pm ET as we welcome NSP Steering Committee member and Reproductive Endocrinologist Dr. Judy Albert who will present “A Conversation About Single Payer and Reproductive Health Rights”

Dr. Judy Albert is a retired Ob/Gyn and Reproductive Endocrinologist who practiced in Pittsburgh for nearly 30 years. She has been a member of PNHP of Western PA, the Western PA Coalition for Single Payer Healthcare and served on the national board of PNHP. She is a member of the Steering Committee for National Single Payer.

In an era when abortion pills are labelled “controlled dangerous substances” and possession of the drugs without a prescription is punishable with jail time and thousands of dollars in fines and where state policies interfering in women’s personal lives threaten the preservation of freedom, find out how a women’s right to reproductive health, including abortion, contraception, and assistive reproductive technology are protected and guaranteed by H.R. 3421, The Medicare for All Act in Congress.

Hospitals Are Refusing to Do Surgeries Unless You Pay in Full First

Heather Miconi has seven weeks to come up with $2,000 to pay for surgery her daughter needs to breathe more easily.

Merritt Island Surgery Center in Merritt Island, Fla., billed Miconi in advance of the adenoid and tonsil surgery. If she can’t pay for the surgery before it is scheduled to take place next month, the procedure will be put off.

Miconi, whose insurance won’t cover the cost because she has a high deductible, works three jobs and doesn’t have savings to cover the cost.
